What is Canvas Culture? Canvas Culture LLC is a for profit art events company that specializes in custom art and creative events for people of all ages. Since 2017 we have brought the world of art to the tristate area. From Sip & Paints, tie dye parties, performing arts and therapeutic painting workshops. We believe art should be accessible to all therefore creating a sliding scale pay system to accommodate DOE schools, churches and free art programs for children. Owned by Shanell Goring, a Bronx Community Advocate, she uses Canvas Culture to drive her philosophy of the deep importance of cultivating the growth of underserved communities such as The Bronx. Canvas Culture LLC has decided to devote much time and resources to creating community programing like Life Master Reset (Motivational life coaching course), and Bronx Poetry (Poetry collective and literary arts program). About our CEO Shay Marie G. was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Her mother, who was adopted into a Bajan immigrant family, had Shay at a young age. Because of this, Shay was raised by her grandfather who was a big influence in her life. Unfortunately, she lost her grandfather on Christmas Eve of 2005 and 6 months later her mother also passed away. Despite these hardships, Shay has worked very hard to become the woman that she is today. She attended Kings Borough Community College and obtained her Associates in Broadcasting and Communications. Shay used her natural abilities along with what she had learned in her classes and got the opportunity to co-host shows at her college radio station. Later on developing SWB Radio which landed her a spot on FM Radio as-well as providing press for Hot 97 Who’s Next and Summer Stage. For over 6 years she has interviewed many artists and celebrities including Jill Scott. Always a lover of entertainment and music, Shay also had a blossoming career as a singer. She sang background for many years and even performed with Tracy Morgan on the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors. For over 8 years Shay served as a dispatcher for both NYPD & FDNY. Her love for serving the community & helping children drove her to leaving her career and radio to pursue further education. In 2022, she graduated Lehman College CUM LAUDE with Presidential Honors. All while pursuing her degree she served as a senator for Lehman College’s student body government. Immediately after college she served as a Community Manager within NYC Council for the chair of housing and buildings. This experience within NYC government has driven her even harder to provide services and opportunities to her home town of The Bronx New York. Today, Shay is running and operating Canvas Culture LLC with the main objective to help underserved communities and offer therapeutic art spaces to corporate spaces. She has also found a passion for hosting adult literacy poetry worships in NY Public Libraries as well as using poetry for healing in women’s shelters. For her diligent work in providing therapeutic art spaces and life changing programming, Shay was awarded the prestigious Manhattan Service award by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Shay’s dream is to see Canvas Culture LLC become a beacon of creativity, growth and healing for the Tr-State area and beyond.

BRONX POETRY Bronx Poetry is a collective created to support literacy initiatives within the Bronx Community.
