Canvas Culture specializes in custom creative events and programming including Sip & Paint experiences, tie-dye parties, therapeutic painting workshops, performing arts events, literary arts programming, life coaching events, and one-on-one life coaching sessions. Our work extends beyond traditional art events by integrating personal development and creative expression to help individuals and communities grow.
Our programming is rooted in three creative pillars:
Visual Art

Poetry experiences, spoken word events, creative writing workshops, and literacy-focused programming that encourage storytelling, expression, and healing through words.

Motivational workshops, personal development programming, life coaching events, and one-on-one life coaching sessions designed to help individuals gain clarity, confidence, and direction in their personal and professional lives.
At Canvas Culture, we believe art and self-expression should be accessible to everyone. To support this mission, we offer sliding-scale pricing options to accommodate Department of Education schools, churches, community organizations, and youth programs. We are also committed to creating free and low-cost art opportunities for children and underserved communities.
Founded by Shanell Goring, a Bronx-born community advocate, Canvas Culture reflects her belief in the power of creativity as a tool for healing, empowerment, and community transformation. Through the organization, Shanell has also developed Life Master Reset, a motivational life coaching course focused on personal transformation, mindset development, and life planning.
Through creative programming, coaching, and community initiatives, Canvas Culture continues to build spaces where art, personal growth, and community empowerment intersect.
About Our Founder & CEOShanell “Shay Marie” Goring was born and raised in The Bronx, New York, where her life experiences shaped her passion for creativity, resilience, and community service.
Raised primarily by her grandfather, who played a major role in her upbringing, Shanell experienced profound loss early in life when she lost both her grandfather and her mother within a six-month period. Despite these hardships, she remained determined to transform her experiences into purpose and impact. Shanell attended Kingsborough Community College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Broadcasting and Communications. During her time there she began co-hosting shows at the college radio station and later created SWB Radio, which led to opportunities on FM radio as well as media coverage for major events including Hot 97’s Who’s Next and SummerStage. Over the years she interviewed numerous artists and public figures, including Grammy-winning singer Jill Scott.
A lifelong lover of music and entertainment, Shanell also built a career as a singer and background vocalist, including performing alongside comedian Tracy Morgan during VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
For more than eight years, Shanell served as a dispatcher for both the NYPD and FDNY, dedicating her career to public service. Her passion for helping people—especially young people—eventually led her to pursue higher education and deepen her impact within her community.
In 2022, Shanell graduated Cum Laude with Presidential Honors from Lehman College, while also serving as a Student Government Senator, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to advocacy.
After graduating, she worked within the New York City Council as a Community Manager for the Chair of Housing and Buildings, where she gained valuable experience in government and community engagement.
Today, Shanell leads Canvas Culture LLC, using art, poetry, and life coaching as tools to support healing, empowerment, and personal development. She facilitates adult literacy and poetry workshops in New York Public Libraries, hosts creative healing programs for women’s shelters, and provides life coaching events and one-on-one coaching sessions for individuals seeking growth and transformation.
In recognition of her dedication to community service and therapeutic creative programming, Shanell was awarded the Manhattan Service Award from Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
Her vision is for Canvas Culture LLC to become a beacon of creativity, healing, and personal transformation, using visual art, literary art, and the art of living to empower communities throughout the tri-state area and beyond.

Life Master Reset is a self motivational course taught by the owner of Canvas Culture LLC, Shanell Goring. The lives we live are our story. Canvas Culture LLC believes the art of storytelling can change lives. Using these stories as guiding light to lead us to live the life we've dreamed of. The course begins as Shanell shares intimate details of the hardships of her life journey and the tools she used to change the trajectory of her life. Shanell Goring has taught
this course to over 100 women including two women shelters as well as two Black Girl Everything retreats. This course has helped sustain the sobriety of 20 women, created 5 entrepreneurs and driven 2 women to go back to college. Canvas Culture hopes to positively impact hundreds more with this course.
